Master Bedroom Makeover

We took advantage of the long weekend and randomly decided to makeover our master bedroom. It took us a day and a half and about 4 trips to Home Depot, but we got it finished and I'm simply in love with it. And everything was done for under $500! That's an awesome deal for revamping a whole room. A few weeks ago I bought a dresser for $60. It was solid wood and in great condition, and of course I knew I would paint it. So we bought a big girl sander and sanded this bad boy down, slapped on a couple of coats of paint, and gave it some new hardware. I'm so excited with how it turned out!dresser

While we were at it, we decided to go ahead and paint the room (Sea Salt by Sherwin Williams) as well, and try to get the headboard put together. Several months ago I bought a barn door type thing to make into a headboard. I painted it the same color as the dresser and then we scoured YouTube for videos of how to properly hang such a thing. We used L-screws and eye-screws directly into a stud, in case you were wondering. I'm so proud because this was the first time we measured and measured and measured....and used a level...and voila, we got it on the first try for hanging! Then I got the bright idea to put lighting sconces on the headboard so we could hide the cords and it really just made it. We still have a few things to do, such as accessorize, and I'm going to paint the black tops of the nightstands to match the dresser and headboard. I think that will bring it all together. I also eventually want to add a chair in the corner (I may reupholster one I already have), but all in all, I really love it. All weekend Chris and I just kept talking about how different and awesome it looks. And it was an even bigger success because we still love each other after it's all done - hahaha!
