A couple of weeks ago my niece and nephew stayed with us a few days while my brother and sis-in-law took their youth group to a student conference. They're our ministry mini-me's. :) We had the very best time and it was oh so good for my heart. It was also such perfect timing to get a "real life" glimpse into what life will be like once we adopt our little one.
There was a trip to the aquarium, which they weren't so sure about. It's awful dark there and huge fish swimming at you. I guess at their age, Nemo is much safer lol.
Cove's 3rd birthday was that Monday, so we did a little Chick-fil-A lunch and grabbed some cupcakes to eat at the house. I was smart enough to let the cupcake eating take place on the back porch so we could clean up with the water hose.
3 years old! I just can't believe it's been that long since he's been on this earth!
And Maggie was not to be left out! She dove right in to some pink icing!
Sorry Mom, we dirtied up that white shirt real good. Ketchup - check. Icing - check.
Then it was cleanup time. We had SO much fun with this. And don't you worry, I jumped right in on all the fun too. We were all soaking wet, but cupcake free. However, I think Cove had the best time...as you can clearly see.
After bath time, everyone was exhausted. So we all settled in for a Saturday night movie.
Seriously, my heart was so full. One of my biggest desires in life is that my nieces and nephews love coming to spend time with us. Growing up (and still to this day) I adored going to my aunt's house. My summers and holidays are filled with memories there. And my aunt and I are so close. Ultimately, I just want to pass along that same love because there really is nothing like it in the world. Here's to many more auntie/uncle adventures!
